User roles and their permissions
What each Tracero role can do, and how to edit roles for your workspace.
The roles
- Owner: the account holder. Full access, and the only role that can transfer ownership or manage roles with administrator power.
- Admin: the operations lead. Full access to assets, bookings, team and settings, except ownership.
- Semi-admin: manages a slice of inventory. Asset access is limited to the categories, locations or tags assigned to them.
- Base: regular staff. Can view assets and create bookings and drafts, but cannot check out or check in.
- Self-service: staff who take items themselves. Can check out, check in, and assign or release items to themselves.
- Viewer: a read-only stakeholder. Sees their own bookings and most lists, and cannot change data.
Editing roles
- Each workspace can edit its roles at Settings, Roles.
- Only the Owner can create or edit roles with administrator power. Non-owners cannot grant more than their own role has.
- A role that still has members cannot be deleted until those members are moved.
When someone lacks permission
They see "You have no permission to perform this action". Check the user's role first.
Visibility can be narrowed further: semi-admins see only their scoped items, and base and self-service users see what the workspace's visibility settings allow.
To add people, see onboarding your team members.
